Micaëla in CARMEN with Venture Opera (2016)

An impressive Micaëla, embodying the madonna-like role with a sound that was pure, lyrical, and soaring.

Zerlina (Cover) and Chorus in DON GIOVANNI with Venture Opera (2015)

The energetic cast was quite accomplished - the kind of performers one might have encountered at the late lamented New York City Opera.

By far the most enjoyable and thought-provoking Don Giovanni New York has heard in many a year.

- David Shengold, Opera News

Each singer was as superb dramatically as he/she was vocally. The musical values were excellent.

- Meche Kroop, Voce di meche

One of the best Don Giovanni's I have ever seen.

- Glen Roven, The Huffington Post

New crazy ideas, a tight convincing cast with exciting peaks, a great use of an extraordinary space, and an electrifying orchestra were the ingredients of a sexy, irreverent yet highly polished show. No detail was small enough.

- Lei & Lui, Allegri con fuoco

Most importantly, all of the singers were magnificent.

SongFest Young Artist Program (2015)

Corral's wordless, a cappella 'Meditation' enters into Ligeti territory with four singers treated to electronic feedback and mimicking what might be mistaken for an airplane in perpetual lift off. The performers looked terrified yet sounded amazing.

Franzi in DAS LAND DES LÄCHLENS with Manhattan School of Music Opera Theatre (2015)

Working with student singers in a bare-bones performance space on a small budget, [the performance] successfully evoked a sense of what made the Silver Age of Viennese operetta so appealing.

Norina in DON PASQUALE with Venture Opera (2014)

[The performance was] well-received by an audience that laughed throughout. In fact, one of the donors was so pleased that he commissioned Venture to bring the production to the Kay Meek Centre in Vancouver.

- Henry Stewart, Opera News

An ambitious venture by a West Vancouver daughter, Mikayla Sager, was presented in the local Kay Meek Centre on Friday, Dec. 19th. 'Venture', it certainly was, as was this appropriately named opera company created by students of the Manhattan School of Music: Venture Opera. Built on the premise that opera could be created by young adults for young adults, the initiators boldly chose Donizetti's Don Pasquale as their vehicle, and it was a humorous romp!

Norina, the feisty antagonist, was sung by West Vancouver born and bred Mikayla Sager. At twenty-three, this talented soprano, with a voice range of over three and a half octaves, brought an edgy intensity to her role. She augmented her vocal prowess with enviable acting skills.

The Fox in THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN with Manhattan School of Music Summer Voice Festival (2014)

The effective acting made the action clear. Sopranos Kelsey Fredriksen and Mikayla Sager were adorable as the feisty Vixen and her mate [the Fox].

- Meche Kroop, Voce di meche

Renata in NINE with Manhattan School of Music (2014)

Happily, one could hear natural healthy young voices unamplified, a great advantage and much to our liking.
